About this map

The rolling plains of the North Dakota South Dakota border are defined by a complex network of glacial potholes and conservation lands on this 1978 survey. Large portions of the landscape are dedicated to the National Waterfowl Production Area, which protects the numerous wetlands typical of the Missouri Coteau region. Traces of early transportation and industry are evident through the Old Railroad Grade running north-south through the center of the sheet and several excavations like the Gravel Pit near the county line.
