The San Juan National Forest defines much of this Colorado landscape, where the high terrain of Serviceberry Mtn and the Winter Hills drops into a complex system of drainages. Water management is a central theme of the geography, visible in the sophisticated network of the Echo Ditch and Echo Waste Water Ditch, which channel resources across the northern sections toward Echo Canyon Reservoir.
