O'Shaughnessy Reservoir dominates the eastern edge of this landscape, its waters held back by the O'Shaughnessy Dam. The surrounding countryside in the late 1960s was a patchwork of established farming communities and family-named homesteads across Jerome and Mill Creek townships. Local genealogy is well-preserved through several small burial grounds, including the Oller Cem near the Scioto River and Watkins Cem located just south of the settlement of Watkins.
