Nicolet National Forest dominates this section of the Wisconsin Northwoods, where the landscape is defined by an intricate network of glacial lakes and small watercourses. At the center of the sheet lies Shay Lake, surrounded by seasonal routes like W Shay Lake Ln and E Shay Lake Ln. To the north and west, a cluster of larger water bodies including Crooked Lake, Nelligan Lake, and Grindle Lake drain into the Waupee Cr system.

Relief is provided by Butler Rock, a prominent elevation situated near the Marinette and Oconto County line. Modern recreational use is evident through the naming of the Baenen Network and several specialized trails like the Pipeline 4x4 Challenge Trl and Atv Trail Lkln05 Trl. These tracks, alongside established timber roads such as Forest Rd 1605, provide access to the dense woodland interior and the headwaters of the W Br Peshtigo Brook.
