Holter Lake and the Missouri River dominate the northeastern corner of this 2014 terrain study, where the waterway transitions from the open reservoir toward the canyon landscape of Lewis and Clark County. The region is defined by a dense network of gulches and drainages, including Levings Gulch, Bear Gulch, and Falls Gulch, which carve through the high ground surrounding the Hilger Valley.
