Shelby anchors the southern portion of this southwestern Iowa landscape, where the town grid meets the borders of Pottawattamie and Shelby counties. The area is defined by a dense network of sectional roads and the meandering courses of Silver Cr and its tributaries. To the north, the small settlement of Tennant serves as a secondary focal point within the agricultural surroundings.
