Philby remains a central point of reference within this agricultural landscape along the border of Sioux Co and O'Brien Co in northwest Iowa. The terrain is defined by a dendritic network of small waterways, most notably the meandering Willow Cr, which cuts through the southwestern and central sections of the township. Other drainage features such as Stofferan Cr, Lamkin Cr, and Roetzel Cr carve subtle valleys into the till plain, influencing the placement of the rigid section-line road grid.
