The international border between the United States and Canada defines the southern portion of this landscape, where the high elevations of Sixtynine Mtn transition into a dense network of northern waterways. Most of the terrain is dominated by the upper reaches of the Rivière du Loup and its many tributaries, including Ruisseau du Loup and the descriptively named Ruisseau des Trente Ponts.
