The high ridges of the Whitefish Range and Smoky Range dominate this part of the Flathead National Forest in northwest Montana. The landscape is defined by its deep drainages, where Big Creek and Skookoleel Creek carve through the mountainous terrain. These watercourses are joined by numerous smaller tributaries such as Elelehun Creek and Kimmiki Creek, creating a dense hydrological network typical of the northern Rockies.
