2022 Map of Slumgullion Pass

USGS Topo · Published 2022

About this map

Slumgullion Pass and Spring Creek Pass serve as the primary gateways through this high-elevation segment of the San Juan Mountains, where the Gunnison National Forest meets the Rio Grande National Forest. The landscape is dominated by massive geological features, most notably the Slumgullion Earthflow and Slumgullion Slide, which illustrate the volatile nature of the terrain near the headwaters of Slumgullion Cr. High plateaus like Jarosa Mesa and Snow Mesa are bisected by the Continental Divide National Scenic Trl, marking the hydrological backbone of the region. To the south, the Continental Reservoir collects drainage from North Clear Creek and Deadman Cr. The map also details an extensive network of seasonal routes, including the Gardner Ridge Snowmobile Trl and Cebolla Snowmobile Trl, which follow the natural contours of the mountain ridges and creek valleys.
