Aldervale sits at the southern edge of this Oregon coastal range terrain, positioned where Acey Creek and its tributaries meet the meandering North Fork Nehalem River. The landscape is defined by its complex drainage network and prominent summits, including Sugarloaf Mtn, Kidders Butte, and Black Butte. These peaks separate the numerous creeks flowing toward the Nehalem from those feeding the higher-elevation Soapstone Lake.
