About this map

Wolf Creek meanders through the southern portion of this landscape within the northwestern corner of Montana's high plains. The terrain is characterized by the Fort Peck Indian Reservation Boundary, which cuts across the lower sections of the map, separating tribal lands from the surrounding acreage. Compiled from 1970s aerial photography and field-checked in the late 1970s, this provisional survey focuses on the physical topography and water systems of the Soo NE region before more modern infrastructure developments reached this part of Sheridan County. The presence of numerous intermittent drainage patterns feeding into the main creek bed illustrates the delicate hydrologic system of this prairie environment.
