Little Snowy Mountains dominate the southern landscape of this Central Montana survey, where the high elevations transition into the expansive plateaus of South Bench and Middle Bench. The terrain is deeply incised by a network of drainage systems, including the N Fork Flatwillow Cr and S Fork Flatwillow Cr, which create complex coulee formations like Fivemile Coulee. These watercourses have historically dictated the placement of mountain roads such as Snowy Mtn Rd and N Fork Rd, which skirt the steeper slopes of the Lewis & Clark National Forest.
