Grand Mesa National Forest and White River National Forest converge in this high-altitude landscape of western Colorado. The terrain is defined by a series of prominent peaks and ridgelines, including South Mamm Peak, Elk Mtn, and Bald Mtn. A network of backcountry routes such as the Battlement Trail and Brush Creek Trail provides access to the interior, where water sources like Buzzard Cr and Plateau Cr drain through numerous named gulches.
