The high ridges of the Moresville Range and the Utsayantha Mtn summit dominate this northern Catskill landscape, where the W Br Delaware River begins its course near the village of Stamford. This 2016 survey documents a region defined by steep terrain and narrow valleys, such as Whiting Hollow and Darling Hollow, which dictated the early placement of roads and family homesteads. The U & D RR corridor follows the valley floor, connecting the primary settlements of Jefferson and South Jefferson.
