The Fremont River carves through the northern reaches of this landscape, defining the transition between Factory Bench and the broad expanse of Blue Valley. This area preserves evidence of early settlement patterns through the presence of Giles Cem and the Blue Valley Cemetery, located near the intersection of the historic valley roads. The terrain is marked by dramatic elevation changes, notably at Steamboat Point and along the Skyline Rim, which overlook a network of seasonal drainages including Town Wash and Coaly Wash. Further south, the landscape opens into Dry Valley, bordered by the South Pinto Hills. Notable water sources in this arid environment include the Bert Avery Seep and Cottonwood Creek, which provide vital hydrological markers for local history researchers and genealogists tracing family ties to the former community of Giles.
