Stellar Lake and the surrounding drainage basins define this central Montana landscape at the junction of Garfield and Rosebud Counties. The terrain is characterized by a dense network of intermittent waterways and named coulees, including Russian Frank Coulee and Hoff Coulee, which channel runoff through the breaks toward the southern drainage of Little Porcupine Creek.
