Stokesville and the surrounding highlands of the George Washington National Forest dominate this landscape on the edge of the Shenandoah Valley. The terrain is defined by the steep cuts of the N River Gorge and prominent peaks like Trimble Mtn and Hankey Mtn. In the lower elevations to the southeast, the rural communities of Stover and Stribling Springs are connected by a network of local routes including Stover Shop Rd and Jennings Gap Rd.
