Targhee National Forest dominates this section of the Big Hole Mountains along the boundary of Bonneville and Teton counties. The landscape is defined by a dense network of canyons and high peaks, where names like Liars Peak, Chicken Peak, and Stouts Mtn anchor the high ground. Drainage flows through deep-cut features such as Fleming Canyon and Gopher Canyon, while the southern reaches level out slightly at the Pine Creek Bench.
