Lassen National Forest covers the majority of this landscape in eastern Lassen County, defining a region characterized by high-elevation valleys and numerous small bodies of water. The terrain transitions from the lowlands of Dixie Valley in the north to the heights of Patterson Mtn in the southwest corner. Water management is a visible priority here, evidenced by several man-made features including Catfish Reservoir, Chico Flat Reservoir, and Double Take Reservoir.
