Tongass National Forest dominates this coastal landscape in the Petersburg Borough, where glacial-carved peaks meet the waters of the Inside Passage. The terrain is defined by high-elevation summits such as Jefferson Peak, Hancock Peak, and Fulton Peak, which overlook a network of alpine lakes including De Boer Lake and Spurt Point Lake. Along the eastern shoreline, the waters of Thomas Bay and Porter Cove provide access to the wilderness via the Spurt Lake Trl.
