Winema National Forest dominates this high-elevation landscape in the eastern Cascades, defined by a series of prominent volcanic plateaus and steep escarpments. The terrain rises sharply from Choptie Prairie to the massive Ya Whee Plateau, which is bounded by the striking Ya Whee Plateau Rim. These geological features overlook a network of seasonal water sources and drainages, including the N Fork Trout Cr and S Fork Trout Cr.
