Rio Salado carves its way through the high desert landscape of the Eastern Navajo Agency, defining the drainage patterns of this arid region. The drainage is fed by tributaries such as Alamosita Creek and Gallegos Creek, while seasonal runoff is captured at Benevides Tank and scattered water sources like the Blue Windmill. The topography is dominated by the namesake Table Mountain and the prominent Tres Hermanos Peaks, which rise above the surrounding plateaus.
