1999 Map of Table Top Mountain

USGS Topo · Published 2003

About this map

Lolo National Forest encompasses the vast majority of this mountainous terrain in western Montana, dominated by the towering heights of Table Top Mountain. The landscape is deeply carved by numerous drainages including Valentine Gulch, Shorty Gulch, and Coyote Gulch, which feed into the larger valley of Prospect Creek. To the northeast, the Clark Fork river cuts through the corner of the quadrangle near the Thompson Falls Recreation Area, serving as a primary corridor for travel and resources in Sanders County. Surveyors meticulously marked the Fifth Standard Parallel North as a key longitudinal reference through this remote timber and mining country. From Daisy Creek Pass in the southwest to the prominence of Flatiron Ridge, the map details a network of creeks like Wilkes Creek and Dry Fork Creek that define the hydrology of this rugged section of the northern Rockies.
