The Weiser River valley forms the eastern spine of this landscape, where the small settlements of Tamarack, Pine Ridge, and Evergreen follow the river’s path through the Payette National Forest. This 2013 survey illustrates the area’s longstanding identity as a timber and recreation corridor, anchored by the Lost Valley Reservoir in the west. A network of forest development roads, including Nat For Dev Rd 089 and Lost Valley Reservoir Rd, provides access to several primitive campsites such as the Slaughter Gulch Campground and Cold Springs Campground.
