Mancos Canyon and its complex network of mesas and draws dominate this southwestern Colorado landscape. The Mancos River winds through the southern reaches of the quadrangle, flanked by the elevated plateau of Tanner Mesa and the nearby Tanner Reservoir. To the north, the terrain rises sharply toward the iconic Mesa Verde and the Mesa Verde West Rim, revealing a topography defined by erosion and water-carved features like West Chimney Rock Draw and the prominent Chimney Rock.
