Tawas City and East Tawas sit at the edge of Tawas Bay, where the Tawas River meets the Lake Huron shoreline. This 2019 survey documents the coastal interface between developed settlements and the inland wilderness of the Huron National Forest. The township grid system is punctuated by numerous local burial sites, including the Poor Farm Cem, Wilber Cem, and Laidlaw Cem, which provide significant points of interest for genealogical research.
