2023 Map of Tejana Mesa

USGS Topo · Published 2023

About this map

Tejana Mesa rises as a prominent landmark in this high-desert region of western New Mexico, overlooking a network of deep drainages and canyons. The landscape is defined by the winding course of Largo Creek, which cuts through the southern portion of the quadrangle near El Porticito. Significant topographic relief is visible at Mesa Tinaja and along the steep walls of Augustine Canyon and Dark Canyon. The land division is marked by the corner of four townships, including t3n r17w and t2n r16w, showing the remote nature of this Catron County territory. Human passage through this arid terrain is traced by rural routes such as Mariano Springs Rd and several county roads, which follow the natural contours of the mesas and draws like Tejana Draw and Lopez Draw.
