Thatcher and the Gila Valley serve as the focal point of this survey, where the irrigation history of Graham County is clearly visible through the Smithville Canal and Robinson Ditch. The landscape transitions from the residential blocks of Pima and Central in the north to the rising elevations of the Coronado National Forest and the Pinaleno Mountains in the south. Academic and local heritage is preserved here at Eastern Arizona College and through multiple burial grounds including Old Central Cem and Thatcher Cem.
