Nicolet National Forest dominates the landscape of this 2015 survey, covering a dense network of glacial lakes and river branches along the border of Oconto and Marinette Counties. The terrain is defined by the namesake Thunder Mountain and the expansive Caldron Falls Reservoir in the northeast corner. A complex system of forest roads, such as Forest Rd 1619 and Marinette Co Forest Rd, provides access to numerous smaller water bodies including Wonder Lake, Lackawanna Lake, and the uniquely named Twin Bessies.
