Caribou National Forest covers this high-altitude landscape where the Bonneville Co Caribou Co line divides the terrain. The topography is defined by the peaks of the Caribou Range, including the prominent Old Baldy Peak and Tincup Mtn. A complex network of drainage systems such as Jackknife Creek, Iowa Creek, and West Fork Fish Creek carve through the deep valleys of Skull Canyon and Black Canyon. The area is characterized by an extensive system of wilderness routes, notably the Trail-Jackknife-Tincup Creek Trl and the Haderlie Ridge Trl, which connect high ridges and canyon floors. Indigenous naming is preserved in watercourses like Tupateheya Naokwaide and Tsa Painkwi Naokwaide, while later local history is reflected in family-named landmarks such as Luthi Canyon and Marshall Canyon. This survey provides a contemporary record of forest access and land management in the southeastern corner of Idaho.
