Totacon Trading Post and the Immanuel Mission anchor this mid-century survey of the Navajo Indian Reservation along the Arizona-Utah border. The landscape is defined by the massive plateau of Toh Atin Mesa and the western reaches of the Carrizo Mountains, which rise toward Black Rock Point. A complex network of drainages including Sweetwater Wash, Walker Creek, and Tsitah Wash carve through the high desert floor.

The mapping of this area, conducted in cooperation with the Atomic Energy Commission, highlights a period of increasing federal interest in the geological resources of the Four Corners region. Evidence of mineral exploration appears via a Shaft and Tunnels near Tsitah Wash, while local life is represented by scattered infrastructure such as a Landing Strip, isolated Windmill sites, and the small community at Red Mesa.
