This area is characterized by a complex drainage network that includes the headwaters of Trail Creek and Antelope Creek, with the latter flowing through the northeast corner toward the Custer and Butte county lines.

Evidence of human access and early surveying is preserved through historical routes like the Fish Creek Summit Trl and its associated spur. The southern portion of the map transition into the drainage of the West Fork Fish Creek and Rough Canyon, providing a detailed view of the natural corridors used for travel through the range.
