The ridge-and-valley landscape south of Shamokin is dominated by the industrial footprint of anthracite coal mining, particularly concentrated around the settlement of Trevorton. In this late 1960s survey, updated with 1970s revisions, the southern terrain between Big Mountain and Little Mountain is heavily marked by extensive Strip Mine operations and a large Mine Dump near the Zerbe Run corridor. This industrial zone contrasts sharply with the agricultural and residential pockets to the north, such as Stonington and Seven Points.
