Trinchera Pass sits at the heart of this high-elevation landscape straddling the Colorado and New Mexico border. The terrain is defined by dramatic geological features, where the expansive Johnson Mesa and Kelleher Mesa overlook deep drainages and named points like Prestons Point. Water is a seasonal but critical presence, with the Dry Cimarron River coursing through the southern portion of the sheet, supported by a network of ephemeral streams including Wild Horse Arroyo and Mike Cr.
