Tule Peak rises as the dominant landmark of the Virginia Mountains in this high-desert region of Washoe County. The landscape is defined by its complex drainage systems and arid peaks, where named springs like Kinnikinic Spring and Cove Springs provide vital water points in an otherwise thirsty terrain. To the south, the wide expanse of Warm Springs Valley and the Winnemucca Valley frame the mountain range, connected by the strategic transit point at Mullen Pass.
