Tuscumbia serves as the focal point of this Miller County landscape, situated along the north bank of a significant bend in the Osage River. The terrain is defined by deep incisions from drainage systems like Cattail Creek and Shutin Creek, creating prominent features such as Cedar Bluffs and Turn Back Ridge. While the river valley provided a natural corridor for early settlement and recreation, evidenced by a Campground and Boat Ramp, the higher elevations served strategic functions in the late 1980s.
