The San Miguel River carves a deep path through this corner of Montrose County, where the settlement of Uravan sits at the base of dramatic plateau country. The landscape is defined by its massive flat-topped features, including Spring Creek Mesa, Wild Cow Mesa, and Long Mesa, which rise sharply above the river valley. In the southern portion of the map, the broad expanse of the Paradox Valley begins to unfold, characterized by the drainage of E Paradox Cr. This region's topography is marked by a complex network of canyons and parks, such as Hieroglyphic Canyon and Long Park, which suggest a terrain shaped by millions of years of erosion. The road network, including State Highway 141 and local routes like u19 RD and z17 RD, follows the natural contours of the mesas and the winding river corridor.
