Ute marks a small settlement node along the modern transportation corridor that bisects this corner of the Mojave Desert. The landscape is defined by the drainage patterns of the California Wash and its associated water features, such as the California Wash Reservoir and Crystal Springs. To the east, the topography rises toward California Ridge, while the western portion of the map is punctuated by more isolated water sources like Livingston Number Two Spring. This 2014 survey captures a desert environment where human activity is focused heavily on the primary roadway corridor, providing a clear view of the infrastructure and natural hydraulics in the arid region of Clark County.
