1985 Map of Van Winkle Wash

About this map

The Marble Mountains anchor the southwestern portion of this high-desert survey, characterized by numerous mining indicators including several Prospect sites and a Borrow Pit. As part of the East Mojave National Scenic Area, the landscape is defined by vast alluvial drainage systems where Van Winkle Wash, Clipper Wash, and Fenner Wash carry seasonal runoff into the Clipper Valley and Fenner Valley. These drainage patterns dictated the movement of 4WD trails across the arid basin.
