1935 Map of Verda

About this map

Kisatchie National Forest covers much of the landscape in this mid-1930s survey, illustrating a rural region defined by small settlements and the timbered basins of Nantaches Creek and Dortigo Creek. The transition from old Verda to New Verda is clearly visible, shifted toward the path of the Louisiana and Arkansas Railway, which is noted here as abandoned. This era of federal land management is further marked by the presence of a CCC Camp near the Winn and Grant Parish line.
