McKnight Mtn and Victorio Park Mtn anchor this high-elevation landscape along the border of Grant and Sierra counties. Located within the Gila National Forest, the terrain is defined by a dense network of canyons and gulches, including Massacre Canyon, Powderhorn Canyon, and Flower Canyon. The presence of the McKnight Fire Cabin and the Sawmill Windmill reflects the remote management and past utilitarian use of these forest lands. Numerous water sources such as Geronimo Spring, McKnight Pasture Spring, and Mimbres Lake are scattered throughout the peaks, supporting a local ecology that transitions into the Black Range. Small outposts like Murphy Place hint at the sparse human settlement found in these mountain reaches.
