Wadsworth serves as the primary hub in this late nineteenth-century survey, situated where the Central Pacific Railroad meets the southward bend of the Truckee River. The landscape is dominated by the terminal basins of Pyramid Lake and Winnemucca Lake, with the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation spanning the river valley between them. At this time, the Piute Indian Agency is established near Marble Bluff, overseeing the lands north of the rail line.
