The Kings River flows through the western portion of this Fresno County landscape, defining a fertile region of the Central Valley where complex water management systems meet rising topography. A network of irrigation and transport canals, including the Friant-Kern Canal, Centerville Kingsburg Canal, and the Reedley Main Canal, lattice the floor of the San Joaquin Valley. These engineered waterways support a series of rural communities such as Centerville, Minkler, and Navelencia.
