Warland Peak and its associated Warland Peak Lookout dominate the northwestern corner of this territory within the Kootenai National Forest. The landscape is defined by a series of high ridges and deep drainages, including the prominent Warland Ridge and the Canyon Divide further south. These topographic barriers dictate the path of the National Forest Development roads, such as Natl Forest Develop Road 4905 Rd, which snakes through the interior to reach isolated points like Summit Spring.
