About this map

Warsaw stands as the primary hub in this Wyoming County landscape, where the Erie railroad cuts through the valley alongside Oatka Creek. The topography reflects a series of upland plateaus and deep-cut drainage patterns, illustrated by the many small settlements that grew around local water sources and crossroads. South of the main village, the Baltimore and Ohio line serves Gainesville, passing near North Gainesville and the small hamlet of Hermitage. The western portion of the survey is defined by the rural townships of Wethersfield and Orangeville, with clusters of activity at Orangeville Center and Wethersfield Springs. These agricultural communities are connected by a network of unimproved and medium-duty roads that navigate the varying elevations between Stony Brook and Stony Creek.
