West Creek and the adjacent shoreline of Channel Cove anchor the southern reaches of this Ocean County coastal corridor. The landscape is defined by the complex hydrology of the Pine Barrens, where tea-colored waters of Westecunk Creek and Cedar Run flow through extensive wetlands toward the Barnegat Bay. These waterways once powered early industry, reflected in local names like Stafford Forge.

Modern residential development is concentrated in the north at Ocean Acres and Manahawkin, while the western interior remains largely preserved within the Bass River State Forest. Local history is preserved in several small burial grounds, including the Staffordville Cem and Greenwood Cem. Aviation history is represented by the Eagles Nest Airport, situated near the small settlements of Mayetta and Staffordville, while the northwestern corner around Warren Grove remains a testament to the area's more secluded, rural character.
