The Black River carves a deep, winding course through this high-elevation landscape, forming the boundary between Apache and Graham counties. The terrain is defined by dramatic elevation changes, rising from the river bed toward the heights of West Poker Mtn and Poker Mtn. To the southwest, the Natanes Plateau provides a broad upland overlooking the river valley, while the eastern portion of the map is dissected by numerous drainages, including Burnt Corral Cr and Sweater Cr.
