Middle Fork Milk River and its multiple branches define this drainage basin in northern Montana. The landscape is characterized by a series of deep coulees including Davis Coulee, Peterson Coulee, and Burd Coulee, which channel water toward the various forks of the Milk River system. The small settlement of Wetzel sits in the southern portion of the quadrangle near Spring Coulee, serving as a focal point for the surrounding ranching and agricultural operations.
