Williamsport sits at the heart of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, where the West Branch Susquehanna River carves through the central valley. The city’s urban grid is anchored by the Lycoming County Courthouse and the expansive campus of the Pennsylvania College of Technology, while the river separates it from its neighboring boroughs of Duboistown and South Williamsport. To the north, residential pockets like Newberry and West Hills Estates give way to the rising hills of Grimesville.

South of the river, the landscape shifts dramatically as the terrain climbs the steep slopes of Bald Eagle Mountain and Jacks Mountain. This area is defined by narrow gaps and secluded hollows, such as Jacks Hollow and Mosquito Valley. Traces of earlier upland communities appear in labels like French Settlement and numerous family or local burial sites including the William King Gravesite and Elimsport Cemetery.
